Welcome to my Blog new Authors.
Here I wish to share slightly more information that on the videos, but if you are a Vlogger lover instead, here is the corresponding one to this post.
The reason why I am so passionate to share with all of you the type of publishing journeys you could experience, it’s because I wish the day that I grab all my fears and transform them in courage thoughts, make the choice to sat in front of the laptop and I couldn’t stop typing, someone came to me, and explain that publishing a book it has nothing to do with luck, or connections, you can take the entire control over it and reach the bookshelf like any other author out there.
Why this doubts and fears?
Since I have memory the process was one or at least we were only told one, someone write a book, an editorial bought it, help them to publish it and put it on the stores where we will purchase them.
But things had changed a lot over the decades, and when we aren’t in this world, let’s say our knowledge doesn’t expand further from that ideal.
As I grew older I understood how hard the world actually is, and that this journey wasn’t that easy, so I quit it, big error my friends.
And once I was brave enough I did my research and found that it wasn’t black or white, there was another journey that could bring me to where I am today, with my first novel published in two languages, the second novel nearly finished, and an umbrella of possibilities to reach high on this community.
If like me you are a first-time author, please don’t feel discourage by others experiences, get started, that is the hardest, put all your thoughts in paper or on a Word Document, and keep working on it, take notes and don’t stop until you create the draft that soon I will help you to convert it on a masterpiece.
Let’s move to the publishing moment, you have a fully finished story, maybe it’s or it hasn’t been edited and proof reader, nothing to worry about.
That is exactly when your search will start, when you will make the big question and decision.
What type of publishing I want to do?
Traditional Publishing

This might be what everyone considers the most common, but actually is the hardest, and at the same time cheapest at first, IF and only IF you get picked by an editorial.
It’s not easy to get your book accepted by a traditional editorial, I have read incredible books that author has openly shared where rejected multiple time by this type of editors.
Once you get picked, the hardest step, you have something the other two routes won’t give you, a cost zero.
How? Well, they will give you a loan that cover the process, BUT! You must be extremely cautious.
Always read the small print and most importantly, invest on some legal team to have a look over that contract before you sign anything.
Traditional publishing means you could lose the entire rights over your book, can you imagine that? All the hard work of months, even of years taken away from you.
I don’t know you, but this author treats her business and her books as if they were real babies, I won’t give my babies away or let anyone illtreat them.
The good thing about that loan is that the money won’t be an obstacle to stop you pursuing your dream.
How will you give that money back? By not receiving any royalties (the money you earn from every copy of your book) until you give them the entire sum.
As you can see there is a positive and a negative aspect about this loan.
Yes, they will help you getting to places by the other type of publishing journeys you might need thousands of copies to be sold before you can even be considered to one of those high level of stores or events, etc.
Can you be contacted by a traditional publishing editorial after you use the other routes and your book did well, or by trying with another type of book genre? Absolutely yes!
Self Publishing

This type of publishing journey has been a really popular one, and the first choice for new authors, as it’s gives them a sense of security and should get few hard works lift out of the shoulders.
Big WARNING! from this author, you can’t trust every single editorial publicist that contact after you place an application.
You should have a list of questions ready and be cautious of how easy they give you “what you want” specially before you pay or accept anything.
Why? Because my dear friend, I have just been scammed on a nasty way, what to know more? Check the next blog.
Regardless from that experience, I want to share my step by step, because I do believe there are great self-publishing agencies that has helped many authors out there, this author choose the wrong one.
STEP NUMBER 1 RESEARCH!
Research, watch research, read research, ask research, don’t sleep until your brain is full of research and even then, research some more.
Seriously? Yes! Okey, I apologies in advance for the amount of phone calls that you will receive.
STEP NUMBER 2 LISTEN!
Those phone calls are your once important chance to listen what they have to offer, LISTEN! Why? Because if you ask your questions first, or you express your concerns first, my dear friend, they will use that to make you change your mind and accept anything they want to sell you.
Here comes my kind advice, be smart, listen and don’t give them much information, ask for an email with all the information and inform you will contact them as soon as you made a decision.
Create a list of around five different editorial agents and check what they can offer you differently, don’t choose the one that will give you more, that was this authors mistake.
My agent promised so many services, platforms to sell my book, complimentary copies, marketing services, and much, much, much more, but unfortunately, I only got a book formatted on the size need it to be publish and that is all, yes, my dear friend that it’s all, and again, the entire story will be on next week blog and YouTube video.
How much self-publishing cost? Well that depends the initial package you accept and how many more services you take from them, but from £1k-£5k minimum.
This author paid for the essential package, choose her on private and magnificent editor and proof-reader and create her own cover and display, so that save a ton of money over the entire process.
How much did this author lost on self-publishing? Around £2k.
But things have changed and this author end up pursuing indie publishing.
Indie Publishing

Last but not least, my favourite and the one that will be hard work, but you will have absolute control over EVERYTHING.
Yes, there is a lot of research to do, but good news, we are here to support you, and what we don’t know we are researching it for you and learning it before we come and share a new Blog or Vlog with you, and by no means go out to internet as there are fantastic groups, platforms and author out there that will be more than happy to give you a hand in whatever you need.
My dear friend, we are not competing against each other, we are all holding hands, walking side by side and wiping each other tears.
It’s not going to be an easy journey, but it will pay back, every long day, sleepless night, every lesson learned and every step you give that will take you to the publication of your masterpiece, the story that matters, will pay back.
What happen when you choose this joinery? Well, that you will have to pay for everything, and that is on you in what you invest, and in what you don’t.
What I mean? You choose to do your own cover or hire someone, you choose to edit your book yourself or let someone do it for you, half or full way, you will upload your book on platforms like Amazon, Barnes & Nobles, Kobo and more.
My friends, this might sound the craziest journey, but I won’t change it for a world.
It has given me the freedom to choose, when, how and where.
And the great news is that I will be by your side every step of the way, so make sure to sign up on our newsletter and follow our Channel so you get notified every time we upload new content.
But most importantly, let us know in the comments how can we help you in the future, and where are you reading us from.
All my love and sincere congratulation on your braveness to join this roll coaster.
Peace and Love as usual.
Welcome to the Flying Panther Family.
