Welcome to The Writers Secret Book.
Today we are covering a really important topic. What type of writer you are?
Didn’t you know they exist? Well now, you know and we will break them down and I will share my opinions, as I went through all the stages, lol. Yes, all the stages.
Are you a Pantser, Plotter, or Plantser??

These are the three dominant types of writers that exist, two are the most common, and another is a mixture of both, we should dive into each and you get to choose who you want to be or who you prefer to be to improve your author dream and succeed.
What is a Pantser?
A pantser is someone who “flies by the seat of their pants,” meaning they don’t plan out anything in their story, or plan very little.
Freedom is an important value for pantsers. They don’t need or want a detailed scene-by-scene outline. In fact, their writing style—for a first draft or senior book—is partly about discovering the story as they write it.
They like to get lost in their story. They like to let the main character and their imagination lead them to a surprisingly finished product.
PERSONAL NOTE: I wrote my debut novel as a Pantser, I wrote out of my own pain, loneliness, grief, and experience, I knew I wanted to be a part of a series, that is where the mystery comes from but, A. I had no idea I would end up publishing that book, B. I didn’t know what the next books would be about or what the end of the series would look like.
What is a Plotter?
A plotter is someone who plans out their novel before they write it. Outlining is extremely important to them.
In fact, it’s essential to the writing process. It’s crucial to have if they want to finish their manuscript.
Plotters know what’s going to happen in their story before writing it. A plan gives them energy and intention, and it saves them a lot of time when they write.
PERSONAL NOTE: Becoming a plotter has saved my messy drafts, yes I wrote the continuation of my series months ago but I couldn’t connect them due to the poor structure I had from book 1.
What is a PLANTSER?
A Plantser is someone who does a little of both, writes a synopsis, and comes up with important details that drive their story ideas. They enjoy planning out their subplots, character profiles, and character arcs, but during the writing, they go around in chunks.
The strategy is to have a story arc, the outline, and the characters, that will help fill the structure of the story and move on from there.
PERSONAL NOTE: I like to do this when a new idea comes to me, I outline and build characters at the same time that I create a document with some dialogues or moments I know they MUST be in the story. But when I sit to write I am more of a plotter at that point.

Have you found out what type are you now?
Comment below which one you are.
And I will see you tomorrow with all about Oultlining.
